These can be small or big concerts, shows, cabaret, comedy, theater, opera or musicals, etc.. These performances, usually on stages, are not compatible with every venue: some need electricity or even heavy current, some need a lot of space, some need certain architectural features such as trusses or a suspension point (a point on the ceiling from which loads, such as the rope for an artist, can be hung). In addition, these shows are usually intended to be performed on a tour at different venues where the artists should find ideal conditions that are as similar as possible. That's why a carefully compiled document is needed beforehand, which <strong>objectively and clearly describes the framework conditions to be created<\/strong>. It serves to communicate, a bit like an instruction manual, so to speak, how the stage is to be prepared before the artist steps on it. It also saves time and energy, because the same information does not have to be constantly reiterated in conversation or email correspondence. At the same time it is <strong>completely descriptive and ideally leaves no questions unanswered<\/strong>, which is not necessarily the case with short briefings.<\/p>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- \/module text --><!-- module text -->\n<div  class=\"module module-text tb_l7s3268\" data-lazy=\"1\">\n        <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n        <h2>Who is the Stage Rider for?<\/h2>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- \/module text --><!-- module text -->\n<div  class=\"module module-text tb_pozu661\" data-lazy=\"1\">\n        <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n        <p>The Technical Rider gives artists the opportunity to communicate the general conditions needed for the performance to the event planner and stage staff on site. It makes it easier for artists to <strong>communicate with their agency or agencies with the event planning department<\/strong>. Likewise, an <strong>exhibition construction company or venue stage crew<\/strong> knows what they need to set up without unnecessary back and forth phone calls. All parties involved can use this document to get a <strong>better idea of the financial and logistical effort<\/strong> that the planned show will entail for them. And many artists, for example jazz musicians, only perform in venues that are specialized in this art form, i.e. that have a piano, amplifiers, microphones and a sound system with staff for this purpose. Here, the lines of communication are so short and the need for technical consultation so manageable that a technical rider would even complicate matters. Often the musician has to take care of the logistics and the set-up (e.g. at a wedding) and here the number of guests and therefore the technical requirements for the performance are minimal. The customer would be overburdened with such a technical document and in doubt give the gig to a less complicated band.<\/p>\n<p>However, it is good, especially as a band, <strong>for larger or logistically more demanding events<\/strong> to at least have such a technical rider ready when needed. In the event sector things sometimes have to be done quickly, especially in the booking phase in competition with others, and a good technical rider requires a bit of work in the preparation phase. This is <strong>all the technical information about a show<\/strong> (i.e. data and facts), as opposed to the content, which is the responsibility of the performer and artist. A show must be described in a technically doubtless and comprehensive way. Therefore, if there are several different numbers for which a different setup is required, it is advisable to subdivide the technical rider into these numbers. Otherwise the following applies to the Technical Rider: <strong>from general to detailed<\/strong>. The basic data (name, type of event, setup and playing time, performers) should be mentioned at the beginning. After that, the space requirements and the stage layout should be clarified. This is usually done in both text and images (with the help of one or more stage sketches), perhaps in possible variations. With this overview, the individual stage elements (e.g. instruments, amplifiers, microphones, trusses, suspension points, props) can be <strong>described in more detail, both quantitatively and qualitatively<\/strong> . This means highlighting the required characteristics of the elements <strong>to allow for some flexibility if, for example, the desired type of amplifier or piano cannot be obtained<\/strong>. It must also be made clear what sound outputs and inputs are to be expected, or what compatibility must be ensured by the sound engineer. This is usually done via an <strong>input\/output list<\/strong>if the miking is not done by the engineers themselves from a single source. Finally, incidental information such as dressing room facilities can be provided.<\/p>\n<p>At the event on site, there is often a strict time schedule to follow. Therefore, the technical rider should be <strong>clear<\/strong> , have a <strong>high information density<\/strong> and be <strong>unambiguous and easy to understand in terms of language<\/strong> . All trades work with this document on site. In this respect, the Technical Rider can also be <strong>understood in a certain way as an on-site checklist<\/strong>.<\/p>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- \/module text --><!-- module text -->\n<div  class=\"module module-text tb_gq6z268\" data-lazy=\"1\">\n        <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n        <h2>What better to avoid?<\/h2>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- \/module text --><!-- module text -->\n<div  class=\"module module-text tb_3ozl640\" data-lazy=\"1\">\n        <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n        <p>Information on the <strong>content<\/strong> of the acts (unless they are relevant to the technical setup\/modification) is not the subject of a technical rider, nor is information on <strong>fees or prices<\/strong>. What is described is merely mentioned and <strong>not justified<\/strong>Anything that makes it unnecessarily difficult for the staff to execute the show should also be avoided. Nicht alle \u201esprechen dieselbe Sprache\u201c oder meinen dasselbe. Deshalb braucht es ein zuvor sorgf\u00e4ltig zusammengestelltes Dokument, das <strong>sachlich und klar die zu schaffenden Rahmenbedingungen beschreibt<\/strong>. Und viele K\u00fcnstler, zum Beispiel Jazzmusiker, treten auch nur in R\u00e4umen auf, welche auf diese Kunstform spezialisisert sind, also \u00fcber ein Klavier, Verst\u00e4rker, Mikrofone und eine Saal-Beschallung mit Personal daf\u00fcr verf\u00fcgen. Hier sind die Kommunikationswege so kurz und das technische Absprachebed\u00fcrfnis so \u00fcberschaubar, dass ein Technical Rider die Angelegenheit sogar noch verkomplizieren w\u00fcrde. Oft muss der Musiker oder die Musikerin die eigene Logistik und den Aufbau (z.B. bei einer Hochzeit) auch selbst \u00fcbernehmen und hier ist die Anzahl der G\u00e4ste und demnach auch die technischen Anforderungen an den Auftritt minimal. Den Kunden oder die Kundin w\u00fcrde man mit einem solchen technischen Dokument \u00fcberfordern und im Zweifel den Auftritt an eine unkompliziertere Band verlieren.<\/p> <p>Es ist jedoch gut, gerade als Band, <strong>f\u00fcr gr\u00f6\u00dfere oder logistisch anspruchsvollere Anl\u00e4sse<\/strong> einen solchen Technical Rider bei Bedarf zumindest parat zu haben. Im Eventbereich muss es manchmal schnell gehen, gerade in der Beauftragungsphase in Konkurrenz zu anderen Mitbewerbern, und ein guter Technical Rider erfordert etwas Arbeit in der Ausarbeitung. Hier geht es um <strong>alle technischen Angaben einer Show<\/strong> (also Daten und Fakten), im Gegensatz zum Inhalt, f\u00fcr den der K\u00fcnstler und die K\u00fcnstlerin selbst zust\u00e4ndig ist. Dabei muss eine Show technisch zweifelsfrei und umfassend beschrieben werden. Stellpl\u00e4tze zum Be- und Entladen, B\u00fchnenrampe o.\u00e4., Zufahrtsbreiten)<\/li> <\/ul>\n<h2>Wie sollte ein Stage Rider aufgebaut sein?<\/h2>\n<p>Es sollte immer klar sein, um welche Nummer oder welchen Act es sich handelt, denn wenn ein Umbau notwendig ist, erfolgt dieser nat\u00fcrlich dazwischen. Es bietet sich also bei mehreren unterschiedlichen Nummern f\u00fcr die ein anderes Setup ben\u00f6tigt wird, eine Gliederung in diese Nummern an. Sonst gilt f\u00fcr den Technical Rider: <strong>von allgemein nach detailliert<\/strong>. Die grundlegenden Daten (Name, Art der Veranstaltung, Aufbau- und Spieldauer, Akteure) sollten am Anfang genannt werden. Daraufhin sollte der Platzbedarf und das B\u00fchnenlayout gekl\u00e4rt werden. Das erfolgt meistens in Text und Bild (mit Hilfe einer oder mehrerer B\u00fchnenskizzen) evtl. in m\u00f6glichen Varianten. Mit diesem \u00dcberblick k\u00f6nnen die einzelnen B\u00fchnenelemente (z.B. Instrumente, Verst\u00e4rker, Mikrofone, Traversen, H\u00e4ngepunkte, Requisiten) <strong>quantitativ und qualitativ n\u00e4her beschrieben<\/strong> werden. Das bedeutet, die ben\u00f6tigten Eigenschaften der Elemente herauszustellen, um eine gewisse <strong>Flexibilit\u00e4t zu erm\u00f6glichen, falls zum Beispiel der gew\u00fcnschte Verst\u00e4rkertyp oder das Klavier nicht beschafft werden kann<\/strong>. Auch muss klargestellt werden, welche Tonausg\u00e4nge und -eing\u00e4nge zu erwarten sind bzw. welche Kompatibilit\u00e4t durch den\/die Toningenieur\/in sichergestellt werden muss. Das erfolgt meistens \u00fcber eine <strong>Input\/Output-Liste<\/strong>, wenn die Mikrofonierung nicht durch die Techniker selbst aus einer Hand erfolgt. Zum Schluss k\u00f6nnen noch nebens\u00e4chliche Angaben wie zum Beispiel Ausstattung der Garderobe gemacht werden.<\/p> <p>Beim Event vor Ort ist hat man oftmals einen strengen zeitlichen Ablauf zu befolgen. Somit sollte der Technical Rider <strong>\u00fcbersichtlich<\/strong> sein, eine <strong>hohe Informationsdichte<\/strong> besitzen und in der <strong>Sprache eindeutig und leicht zu erfassen<\/strong> sein. Alle Gewerke arbeiten vor Ort mit diesem Dokument. Insofern ist der Technical Rider in gewisser Weise auch <strong>wie eine Checkliste vor Ort zu verstehen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Was sollte ich besser vermeiden?<\/h2>\n<p>Angaben zum <strong>Inhalt<\/strong> der Nummern (sofern sie nicht f\u00fcr den technischen Auf-\/Umbau relevant sind) sind genausowenig Gegenstand eines Technical Riders wie Angaben zu <strong>Gagen oder Preisen<\/strong>. Das Beschriebene wird lediglich genannt und <strong>nicht begr\u00fcndet<\/strong>. Vermieden werden sollte auch alles, was es dem Personal unn\u00f6tig erschwert, die Darbietung durchzuf\u00fchren.
